Bangkok to Singapore Train (or v.v)

Departing Bangkok's Hualampong Station early evening,
dinner will be served while the train travels from the city
into the countryside passing rice-fields and quaint
villages.
River Kwai
Awake early to experience the train making its way from
Wang Po station along the wooden trestle viaduct beside a
towering cliff. Arrival at the River Kwai Bridge Station for a
raft cruise along the Kwai Yai River. Continue with a visit to
the North Temple and the Chinese Cemetery before
returning to the train for lunch. Reflect on the day's sights
over dinner while the train journeys to Malaysia.
Penang, Malaysia
Enjoy breakfast in your cabin before arriving into
Butterworth, the closest town on the mainland to Penang.
Disembark here for a guided excursion of colonial
Georgetown including a visit to Fort Cornwallis and a
trishaw ride. Enjoy a Malaysian lunch at the colonial
Eastern & Oriental Hotel before a ferry ride takes you
back to rejoin the train where you can spend the
afternoon admiring the scenery from the Observation Car.
Dine in one of the opulent dining cars and spend your last
night on board in the Bar Car listening to the
pianist.
Singapore
After breakfast it's time to leave the train, having crossed
into Singapore via the causeway of the Straits of Johor.
Thai Explorer Train
Bangkok
Depart in the afternoon and relax in one of the bar cars,
saloon car or in your private compartment whilst
journeying northwards through the Thai countryside. Later
you can enjoy dinner in the lavish restaurant car before
retiring to your compartment.
Chiang Mai
Enjoy breakfast in your compartment before arriving into
Chiang Mai, renowned for the greatest concentration of
handicraft industries in the country and for its hundreds of
temples. There is a choice of visiting handicraft workshops,
Mae Sa Elephant Camp, or join a city tour to see Chiang
Mai's famous sights. Return to the train for the afternoon
departure where tea will be served in your cabin. Dinner
and overnight aboard the train.
Si Satchanalai & Lampang
Disembark at Sawankhaloke Station where waiting
coaches take you to Si Satchanalai, part of the northern
most citadel of the ancient Khmer Empire. You will
explore the 13th century Buddhist temples that are within
this UNESCO World Heritage Site before returning to the
train for lunch. Continue your journey to Lampang where
a horse-drawn carriage takes you to a Lanna Thai style
house, Baan Sao Nok. Return to the train for dinner and
your last night on board.(BLD)
Bangkok
After breakfast you will arrive into Bangkok Station where
your tour ends.
Accommodation on Board
Each compartment is luxuriously appointed and
air-conditioned with its own bathroom, shower, toilet
and personal safe. The daytime seating is converted at
night into beds as follows:
Pullman Compartment - upper and lower berths
State Compartment - two single beds
Presidential Suite - two single beds, a separate dressing
room, CD player and free minibar.
Facilities on Board
An open-air Observation Car, a reading room with a
varied library, Saloon and Bar Car with resident pianist,
two Dining Cars and a boutique.
Dress Code
Smart casual attire is appropriate during the day and a
jacket and tie for gentlemen in the evening. However,
the ambience of the train provides a superb opportunity
to dress up and this is actively encouraged.
